We are now able to offer Wi-Fi hotspots! Users (ages 18 and older) with a Portland Public Library card that has been active for at least 30 days may borrow a FREE hotspot. The loan period for hotspots is 7 days, and if there is no wait list, they may be renewed for an additional 7-day period. Hotspot holds and check-outs are limited to one per household. Children's Programs   

 

LAPSIT – FOR KIDS UNDER 3 (Friday mornings at 10:30)
These are programs for infants and toddlers under age 3 and their caregivers. The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes and fingerplays (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary).

 

April 5: Silly words, silly songs, and silly rhymes! Great time for both kids & parents to socialize.

April 12: Silly words, silly songs, and silly rhymes! : Songs, rhymes, and stickers.

April 19Silly people doing silly things! : Songs, rhymes, and stickers.

April 26In books even plants can do silly things! Nursery rhymes, songs, and fun!

 

Wednesday Mornings at 10:30am (for kids ages 3-5)

 

April 3: Foolish made up words: (Think frogs) Plus songs, music, and a craft.

April 10: Foolish Animal Stories! :  Stories, songs, & crafts about this holiday.

April 17: Foolish people, plants, and situations: Music, movement and a coloring page.

April 24NO STORYTIME TODAY! : Come check out some silly/foolish books!

 

Wednesday Afternoons at 3:30pm (for Kindergarten & older)

 

April 3A foolish made up word story: Definitions of unusual words AND a game of 4 corners!

April 10A book with an animal in a silly/foolish situation: Madlibs and Hedbanz!

April 17We have a guest reader today (who is not foolish) but he will read a foolish person book: We will talk about mistakes that worked and put together some marble runs!

Teen Programs for middle & high schoolers (Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm)

April 4: 12 Exciting Science Experiments for Teens to Spark Curiosity and Learning - Sign-up required. Choose from one of the 15 experiments so supplies can be purchased. Attend the program to conduct your experiment (you may choose a lab partner).

April 11Candy, Candy, Candy Starburst and M&M candy competitions today!

April 18Game Day -  Video, board, card . . . choose which game and which friends you want to game with today!

April 25Weaving & Yarn Work - Yarn has a wide range of uses across various crafts and industries showcasing its versatility and importance in various creative and practical endeavors. Common uses of yarn include: Knitting, crocheting, weaving, embroidery, crafts, sewing, and commercial use.

Dungeons & Dragons: Friday April 19th 3:30-5:00 - Join us for our D&D group! Both teens and college ages are welcome. Adult staff members will be leading and monitoring the program.

 

Adult Programs

 

Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM

Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.  

 

Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, April 3rd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room 

A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any vetran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms.  No appointment necessary.  First come, first serve basis.

 

Genealogy Club: April 6th at 10am

Everyone is welcome to come and discuss their genealogical finds and gain some tips and tricks!

 

Crafts!: Tuesday, April 23rd at 2:30 PM

Join us to make a cute craft!  All supplies provided. Sign up is required.

 

Page Turners Book Club: Thursday, April 18th at 11:30 AM
