Hayes-McCoy picks right up where The Month of Borrowed Dreams (2021) left off on the Finfarran Peninsula in Ireland. Librarian Hannah Casey’s new life has come together beautifully. Her job is going well, she lives with her boyfriend Brian in a stunning home he built, and her daughter Jazz is thriving running her own company. Then Hannah’s old flat mate, Amy, turns up at her library reminding her of her old life in London and the dreams she used to have. Hannah and Brian decide to take a trip together—that is until Brian’s son Mike shows up unannounced with no end date to his visit. Hannah begins to feel slightly put out by Mike’s presence and to ease her annoyance, she takes Amy up on her offer for a holiday. While in London, a new job opportunity arises and between that and Amy’s meddling, Hannah is starting to feel that maybe her life in Finfarran is stagnant. While the main storyline is around Hannah and Brian, readers will get to know the secondary characters better in this novel. Maeve Binchy fans will love reading the latest in this charming series.
