The Astoria Public Library was originally incorporated on February 6, 1892. On January 1, 1914, the
library became a department of the City of Astoria, with property tax as its primary base of support.
County residents enjoy services for the payment of an annual fee in lieu of property tax. Since 1914,
the Astoria Library has operated as an independent city library. It is located at 450 Tenth Street.
