BHPL is an informational, social and cultural resource for the entire community.

Mission Statement
BHPL delivers informational social and cultural resources, serving all residents of our diverse community.

Goal 1    Deliver informational resources to all

Objective 1: Provide trained staff to facilitate access.

1) Recruit quality staff according to Mission and program
2) Allocate financial resources and time for training
3) Prioritize training needs
4) Provide growth opportunities to promote retention

Provide print, non-print resources

1) Survey public on continuing basis to assess needs/trends
2) Allocate funds to support a variety of formats/technologies
3) Allocate funds to support age appropriate resources
4) Research new products, formats and technologies

Provide digital information 24-7

1) Survey public on continuing basis to assess needs/trends
2) Allocate funds to support technology and necessary staff
3) Make available digital resources provided by Infolink and New Jersey State Library
4) Provide training for public and staff to fully utilize resources
5) Research new products and technologies

Objective 2: Provide opportunities for personal interaction and exchange of ideas and information

1) Provide age appropriate spaces
2) Provide multifunctional meeting space to accommodate
a variety of needs in terms of size and use (semi-private, quiet, small group, program)
3) Provide space and resources for training
4) Provide appropriate space for staff/public interface
5) Advertise space available for public use in accordance
with current policies

Objective 3: Provide variety of topical programs of interest to the community

1) Identify programming niche in relation to other providers
2) Survey public on continuing basis to assess needs/trends
3) Allocate or solicit funds to provide quality programming
4) Design event(s) to engage community support and
participation
5) Advertise programs through a variety of channels

Objective 1: Provide dynamic environment supporting diverse library usage

1) Create an ambiance which is inviting, comfortable, user-
friendly, age appropriate and multifunctional
2) Provide adequate parking
3) Provide an enthusiastic, customer service oriented staff
4) Utilize and beautify existing spaces

Goal 3     Deliver cultural resources to all

Objective 1: Provide materials, programs and venue to meet cultural needs of the community

1) Survey public on a continuing basis to assess needs/trends
2) Provide meeting room space with the suitable technology
and equipment for a variety of uses and programming,
including sound, viewing and music
3) Provide technology necessary for public preview of sound
or visual resources
4) Allocate or solicit funds necessary to provide these
resources
