Everyone in Maple Hollow warned Ruby Bellerose about going into the woods surrounding their small town. Ruby now realizes she should have paid more attention. It all begins when a tall, dark, and sexy stranger walks into the bar where Ruby works. The chemistry between Ruby and Rafe Channings is instantly hot. Rafe further endears himself to Ruby when he comes to her defense after another customer gets too fresh. But Ruby can’t deny that there's something dangerous about Rafe, and the last thing she needs in her life is another problem to solve. Rafe, however, isn’t going to make it easy for her to avoid him, especially since he believes fate brought them together for a reason. Gilmore (The Daisy Chain Flower Shop, 2026)) launches her new Maple Hollow series with a revised version of her earlier novel, A Curse of Blood and Wolves. Her seriously sexy take on Little Red Riding Hood is a bit darker and edgier than her Dream Harbor romances but still delivers the small-town coziness and sharp humor her readers love.

This cozy fairy tale romance from bestseller Gilmore (the Dream Harbor series) is a reworking of the author’s 2023 A Curse of Blood and Wolves (written as Melissa McTiernan). Twins Ruby and Lena Bellerose have lived in quaint small-town Maple Hollow, Maine, since they were orphaned at age eight. More than 20 years later, the locals still view the sisters as outsiders and they’re the frequent subjects of town gossip, due partly to Ruby’s air of ironic detachment and Lena’s unexplained visions, which make people say she’s crazy. One night, Rafe, a new-to-town woodworker, walks into the bar where Ruby waitresses and inexplicably captivates her. Ruby’s never believed the local legends about monsters in the woods, until, days later, she witnesses Rafe shift from man to wolf to protect Ruby from a different werewolf. Rafe then explains his true nature, reveals that Ruby is his fated mate, and shares his suspicion that she and Lena may have psychic powers. Meanwhile, the sisters find themselves in the middle of a pack-territory war. Despite this conflict, Gilmore keeps the vibe light and the stakes relatively low, with less worldbuilding than paranormal set dressing. Instead, a lot of time is spent on Rafe, formerly a lone wolf, adjusting to companionship. A cliffhanger ending sets things up for Lena to find love of her own in book two. Gilmore fans will be pleased. (Sept.)
