Gr. K-1. The print is quite large, the spacing very generous, and the story sweet and simple in this entry in the All-Aboard Reading series. A little girl who's convinced she always has bad luck has a wonderful birthday even though an electrical outage caused by a snowstorm means her party must be canceled. Appealing pastel paintings by the author picture the nameless young narrator as her hopes for a wonderful party build, she mopes about during the blackout, and her family gathers round to give her an unexpectedly delightful time. A positive first read all around. ~--Stephanie Zvirin
