REGISTRATION and CHECK-OUT POLICIES

REGISTRATION
You must register to be able to borrow materials from the Library. To register you must provide a picture ID and ID with your current Ripley County address on it as proof of residency. A utility bill is acceptable as the second kind of ID. You also need to fill out and sign an application for a library card. If you want to use the computers, you must give a pin number to the librarian.
PROBATION PERIOD
There is a three-month probation for new applications. During the probation period, each registered patron is allowed a total of three items including 1 video at a time.
CHECK-OUT
After probation, up to eight books, audios, puzzles or educational videos may be checked out at one time for a period of two weeks. 3 videos and 3 children’s videos are also allowed at the same time. Some new books may have more restrictive check-outs. Late fines are 10 cents per day, 5 cents per day for paperbacks, $1 for videos. The maximum fine is the price of the item.
VIDEOS
Late charges for videos are $1.00 per day. Up to 3 videos may be checked out for a period of two weeks with no renewal. Minor cards may check out 1 video at a time.
RENEWALS
All materials except videos may be renewed once over the phone if there is no waiting list. Books may be renewed one additional time by bringing the book in to the library.
MINORS
Children may apply for a library card and have their parent or guardian sign the application to be responsible for the library materials. If the guardian is not available to sign the application, a limited minor card is can be issued. The card is limited to 3 items including 1 video at a time and no computer privileges.
