It is the mission of the Greenwood Public Library System to welcome and support all of the citizens of Greenwood County in the pursuit of life-long learning and the enjoyment of reading by providing access to library programs, materials, and technology.

The following actions are considered to be unacceptable and prohibited on library property

• Any behavior that is disruptive to library use
• Loud conversation and/or laughter which disturbs other users
• Obscene or abusive language
• Smoking in designated non-smoking areas
• Use of Walkmans, etc. where the sound disturbs others
• Willful destruction of or damage to any library property
• Blocking or interfering in any way with the free movement of library users and/or staff
• Bringing animals or pets into the library (except guide dogs for the blind and hearing impaired)
• Consuming food or beverages in any type container or bringing in packaged food or beverages
• Possessing and/or consuming alcohol or drugs and//or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Removal of library property from the building without authorization or through established lending procedures
• Soliciting or selling of any kind
• Distribution of leaflets or posting of notices in areas not authorized for this purpose and/or without permission of library staff
• Use of library telephones without library staff approval
• Harassing library staff and/or users by staring, following, or any other intimidating act
• Moving library furniture and/or equipment without authorization
• Fighting, challenging to fight, or using offensive words likely to provoke violence
• Carrying unauthorized weapons of any sort
• Any other illegal acts or conduct in violation of federal, state, or local law, ordinance or regulation
