Textbooks for Term Beginning September 16, 2009 (Sorted by course number)

The textbook list for next term (begins Dec 2) will be available available the week of Nov 16.

This is the list of textbooks for the term beginning September 16, 2009 (0904C). It contains the ISBN#, which is important for ordering the correct book. The list is subject to change. Contact Stephanie Bivens (ext 129) for questions. sbivens@kaplan.edu.

Also be aware that the National Association of College Stores and the IRS have teamed up on a new Web site (www.textbookaid.org) designed to help make students aware that they can now recoup some of what they spend on textbooks and other course materials thanks to an expanded tax credit enacted by Congress as part of economic recovery legislation in February.

Popcorn will be served in the Student Success Center all day.

NOV 23 (MON) DECORATING DAY

Faculty & Staff decorating day and potluck. We'll be decorating the tree in the lounge. Please bring a covered dish and we will enjoy our potluck while we decorate

DEC 4 (FRI) HOLIDAY PARTY

The Student Christmas Dinner Party will be held at the Williamsport Fire Hall from 6-10pm. Free admission for all students and they can bring up to 3 guests. Buffet dinner, dancing, games with the DJ, Phantom Shadow. Door Prizes, too. Staff & Faculty can sign up if enough tickets remain.

DEC 11 (FRI) STAFF & FACULTY PARTY

Staff & Faculty Holiday Party at the American Legion. Invitations and details will be in your mailbox.

Bookstore Hours (106 Fawley Hall)

The Bookstore will be closed from Fri Nov 6 until Monday Nov 23. Hours for the week of Nov 23:

Mon-Wed 10-4pm. Closed Thur-Sunday (Thanksgiving)

Hours for the week of Nov 30:

Mon 9am-1pm and 4-7pm.

Tues 10am-4pm

(Bookstore is closed every Friday-Sunday).

The Library is open 7:30am-11pm Monday-Friday and Saturday 8am-1pm. Staff is available Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 7:30pm and on Friday from 8am-4pm.

The E-Learning Center in ADM 104 is open Monday-Friday 7:30am-11pm and Saturday from 8am-1pm. Tutoring Schedule

Math tutoring: Mon & Wed at 3pm, Wed 12:30-1:30pm, Tues & Thurs 3pm.

Reading & Writing Tutoring: Mon/Wed 12:30-1:30pm, Tues 11am-12noon, Mon-Thurs 3pm. Schedule subject to change. To schedule an appointment call Bonnie Mazzocci (ext 163) in the Student Success Center.

Alabama Online Library (Kaplan Online Library)

Has 25 databases on many different subjects. Select "electronic articles" and start with "academic search premier" which covers all subjects. Also has Netlibrary which has over 60,000 digital books. Select "electronic books." Passwords available in library.

Issues & Controversies Database

This is a new database consisting of more than 800 topics in current affairs and issues. Comprehensive information on each topic. No password needed on-campus. See the librarian for access from off-campus.

Magill's Medical Guide New Online Source (includes new Cancer database)

This encyclopedia is available both in print (5 vols) and online through this link. A new Cancer database has just been added with a 4-volume print edition. Covers diseases and many other medical topics. For diseases gives definition, key terms, causes & symptoms, treatment & therapy, prospective, and further reading.For access off-campus, see the librarian for the password.

SWINE FLU FACTS

This is a free database provided by Gale Publishing until Oct 9 dealing with swine flu facts.
