August 2025 Northwood Public Library News

We have come to the conclusion of our Summer Reading Program and I do think it was a great time! We had 79 kids sign up, 3 big events, plenty of Story Times, and a lot of prizes were handed out! Thank you to those who sponsored our Summer Reading Program, the volunteers who helped make Story Time extraordinary, the parents who encouraged reading to promote fun and prevent the “summer slide,” and of course a big thank you to the kids who came and had fun at our events.
We will have a few weeks off of Story Time but we’ll have one more fun one before school starts. Join us on August 15th at 10:00 for a fun back to school Story Time, then we’ll go back to our normal story time schedule starting August 29th at 10:00.

Save the Date! Sherrie Hansen is coming to our library on Thursday August 14th from 3:00-6:00 to promote her new books. Please watch for more details on her visit.

The library has two different book clubs that participate in a monthly reading and discussion. If this is anything that sounds interesting to you, don’t hesitate to reach out at the library for more information!

Coming to the library sometime during the month of August:
Adult Fiction books: “The Surrogate Mother” by Freida McFadden, “Emma on Fire” by James Patterson, “Mrs. Endicott’s Splendid Adventure” by Rhys Bowen, “Kiss Her Goodbye” by Lisa Gardner, “The Book of Lost Hours” by Hayley Gelfuso, “The Battle of the Bookshops” by Poppy Alexander, and lots more.

I’ve been posting some pictures of the new books to the Northwood Public Library’s Facebook page, so don’t forget to “Like” the page to be notified when we put more new books out throughout the month.
Something new to note, the library has a new email address, so if you’re one to email me your book recommendations or wishlist for InterLibrary Loan books, please write down the new email address. It is librarian@northwoodia.org. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you might have or call us at 324-1340. We hope you will check us out soon!
