Toyota recalling Prius, other models, worldwide
Prius drivers in Japan and the U.S. have complained of a short delay before the brakes kick in — a flaw Toyota says can be fixed with a software programming change.  Toyota announced that it is recalling about 400,000 of its signature Prius green cars and other hybrids worldwide for braking problems.

Early Priuses may have braking issues
After initially downplaying complaints by owners that 2010 Prius brakes could release unexpectedly, the troubled Japanese manufacturer acknowledged last week that it had quietly instituted a “fix” to solve the problem with the sedans that it has built since sometime in January.How far back do potential braking problems with the Toyota Prius go? The answer may be much further than believed, and could involve vehicles dating back to the 2005 model-year.

Loan guarantees recharge nuclear debate
The Calvert Cliffs power plant near Lusby, Md., is high on the Department of Energy's list of projects that could receive federal loan guarantees. The plant's operator, Constellation Energy, wants to add a 1,600-megawatt nuclear reactor to the existing plant.President Obama’s push to triple federal loan guarantees for new nuclear power plants has recharged the debate over the viability of nuclear energy.
