Special note for parents:
Parents are responsible for the care and use of library materials by their children and for the conduct of their children in the library. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Library Cards
Residents of Parkland School District, which includes North Whitehall, South Whitehall and Upper Macungie Townships, and residents of ward 17, 4th district and ward 18, 2nd district, both of Allentown, are eligible for library cards and the privileges the card offers. Applicants must provide proof of residence.
Hours:
Monday-Thursday: 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
Summer Saturday Hours: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Parkland Community Library is to serve as a cornerstone of community resources:
- by providing educational and recreational material in a variety of useful and desirable formats,
- by making information readily available in the library and from home,
- by providing programs and activities for children and adults that meet the informational and entertainment interests of a diverse community, and
- by providing these services in a facility that meets all of these needs.

Statewide Card
The Parkland Community Library is a participant in the statewide program of public libraries sharing materials. With your library card and its ACCESS sticker, you may borrow materials directly from other Pennsylvania public libraries.
The other libraries will require proper identification to issue you one of their cards.
Friends of the Library
Applications for membership in the Friends are available at the main desk or from the library's website. Be a Friend! Join the Friends of the Parkland Community Library.

Lending Services
Loan Periods

DVDs and Videocassettes - 1 week

All other materials - 3 weeks (limit of 3 items per topic or holiday)
Rental adult fiction and adult nonfiction – 50 cents per week

Renewals
You may renew most items once unless someone has requested the item.
You may renew items at the circulation desk, by telephone: 610-398-1361 or online: www.parklandlibrary.org. Click on "My Account" and follow the directions.

Requests for Materials
You may place a hold (reserve) on any item (with the exception of reference material) in person, by phone, or through the website. Find your item in the catalog, click on “place hold” or “hold request”, and enter your library card number and PIN. 
There is a $.50 charge per item to place a hold on recent adult fiction. The item will be held for you for up to 3 days.
Book drop
A 24-hour book drop is located on the south wall of the building for your convenience.
Vacation Loans
You may request a 6-week loan period for items not in high demand.
Homebound Loans
You may request delivery services for any person in the library's service area who cannot visit the library due to age, illness or disability.
Lost or damaged item
Lost or damaged items which require replacement:
- Adult book -- $20.00 (paper- $5.00)
- Children's book -- $17.00 (paper-$5.00)
- Videocassette or DVDs -- $20.00
- Music CD or cassette -- $15.00 (YS - $12.00)
- Book on CD or cassette -- $40.00 (YS - $40.00)
- Plus Item processing fee -- $3.00
Lost Borrower Card
Replacement - $3.00
Please notify the library if you lose your card.
Overdue Items
If an item becomes overdue, you will receive a courtesy reminder after 3 weeks. Fines will continue to accrue until you return it.
If you have not returned it within 6 wks, you will be billed for its replacement and processing. If you have a total of more than $10.00 in charges, your library card may be suspended.
Late Fees by day:
- Most items - 15 cents
- Children's books - 10 cents
- Videos and DVDs - $1.00
