CHILDREN’S INTERNET USE AGREEMENT - ROBERT J. KLEBERG PUBLIC LIBRARY:
Parents or legal guardians must assume responsibility for deciding which library resources are appropriate for their own children. Parents or legal guardians should guide their children in use of the Internet and inform them about materials they should not use. While the Library affirms and acknowledges the rights and responsibilities of parents and guardians to monitor and determine their children’s access to Library materials and resources, including those available through the Internet, the Library has taken certain measures designed to assist in the safe and effective use of these resources by all minors:
The Library has developed a web page, [ Ready Reference Websites ] to assist library patrons in selecting current, authoritative websites. This web page has specific links to information of interest to children. The Library has installed filtering software on the Children’s Internet workstations to block inappropriate content from access by minors. Parents should be aware that filtering software will only limit such material and will not eliminate all inappropriate content. Some information found on the Internet may be inaccurate, incomplete, dated, or offensive to some individuals. The Library does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet. Library staff will assist children in accessing appropriate Internet resources as time allows. The Library will offer limited computer assistance only. The Library has many reference resources available to help children and adults use the computers. Computer Lab terminals are visible to library staff from the Children's Desk.
