The primary purpose of Library space is for use by individual walk-in students.
Instructors may bring classes into the library (with the exception of the WIRL) for group work, but should plan this ahead of time with the Library Director or the Reference Librarian.
The Library may be used in off hours for special events (e.g. poetry readings). These can be arranged with the Library Director.
WIRL
The WIRL was built in response to the increase of class use of the other labs on campus. Therefore, the WIRL is not to be used by classes. This room may be used by students for group study and project work.
Reference Room
The Reference Room (and the WIRL) may be used for group study and project work, so “normal” volume conversation should be expected.
Reading Room
This room is reserved for Quiet Study. Infrequent low level conversation is permitted. The doors may be closed to block out noise from the hallways and the rest of the Library.
Sun Room
This room is reserved for Silent Study. Doors may be closed. Due to the lack of space on campus for group study, it may be used for other purposes with the following stipulations:
¨ There is no one already using it for silent study.
¨ Group must quit or move if someone wants to use it for study.
¨ The doors should be kept closed.
¨ Volume should be kept very low.
¨ There is no expectation of privacy. Most of the book collection is housed here, so anyone needs to be able to enter at any time.
¨ It may not be reserved.
