: In her introduction to these transcripts, National Public Radio reporter Nina Totenberg notes that "the story was not just Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas, but the story of the Judiciary Committee and how it did its job." Totenberg was the first to interview Hill regarding her claims of sexual harassment by then-Supreme Court nominee Thomas. For those who ponder the question, "Why would Hill lie?" this book fails to give an answer. However, it does reveal in its entirety the rudeness and incivilities visited upon Hill by Senators Alan Simpson and Arlen Specter and the neglectful questioning of Thomas by Democratic senators. Also included is the telephone interview of Angela Wright (Thomas's director of public affairs at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) by counsel for the Judiciary Committee. Wright testified that she underwent the same type of sexual harassment that Hill allegedly experienced from Thomas. This book is a hard pill to swallow for those who would like to believe that Thomas, a sitting Supreme Court justice, is indeed honorable. Recommended for all libraries.
