Imagination Library

The Scott County Public Library Board of Trustees will have two vacancies on July 1, 2024.  Trustees are volunteer public officials with powers delegated to them as a public trust.  Duties include fulfilling legal responsibilities established by statute as well as approving policies, budgets, and strategic plans.  Trustees must be legal residents of Scott County and be available to attend Board meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m.  All trustees serve a four-year term, and should be willing to advocate for the library and intellectual freedom.  If you are interested in becoming a trustee, please complete this application and submit it to SCPL Executive Director Patti Burnside patti.burnside@scottpublib.org  by March 31, 2024.

Medical Marijuana 101

The aim of this program is to provide information about medical marijuana, helping people make knowledgeable decisions about its use, as it becomes legal in Kentucky on January 1, 2025. Diane Vance, PhD, retired Dir. of EKU Forensic Science program, will discuss and summarize research-based evidence related to its use. The program will not advocate for or against medical marijuana or provide medical or legal advice.

Gentle Yoga Flow.  Grab your yoga gear and head to the Scott County Public Library for a mindful practice on the mat.  This yoga flow centers on gently building strength, flexibility, and balance as we practice a moving meditation.  It is aimed for beginners, but those familiar with yoga are welcome to attend as well. One of the best ways to celebrate this month is by learning about and honoring women’s contributions throughout history.
