CIRCULATION REGULATIONS


INDENTIFICATION CARDS

A current I.D. card is required for requesting a library card. A library card must be presented each time a book is checked out.

LOAN PERIODS

Voorhees Students …………………………………………………. 4 weeks
Voorhees Faculty/Staff …………………………………………….. 4 weeks
Special Borrowers ………………………………………………….. 2 weeks

A maximum of five books may be checked out by Voorhees students, faculty and staff
A maximum of three books may be checked out by special borrowers. A book may be
renewed as often as necessary, if no one else has requested it.

NON-CIRCULATING MATERIALS

BOOK CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES

Any patron desirous of checking out books must possess a current Voorhees College library card. Library cards may be obtained at the Circulation Desk after presenting a current College ID. Community patrons may obtain a library card by presenting a valid South Carolina driver’s license and one other form of picture ID. The College reserves the right to refuse issuance of cards to community patrons due to insufficient identification and evidence of prior abuses of borrowing priviledges.

RETURN OF BOOKS

Books charged out of the Voorhees Library should be deposited either in the outside book~ chute or at the Circulation Desk. Reserve and/or overdue books must be returned to the Circulation Desk.

LATE BOOKS AND LOST BOOKS

The charge for a lost book, still in print, is the list price of the book, plus a $5.50 processing fee.
Out-of-print titles will be based upon the recent average price. If a book is located after being reported lost and paid for within one month, the money will be refunded. NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED AFTER A PERIOD OF ONE MONTH. If, for any reason, you don’t understand why the library has charged you, come to Circulation right away for an explanation or correction.

FINES

Four-week books - 10 cents a day, per book, payable at the time the book is returned.


OVERDUE NOTICE

Borrowers are responsible for returning materials on time. Only two notices per book title will be sent.

RENEWALS

Renewals are not accepted by telephone. Books must be returned to be renewed.

RESERVE BOOKS: POLICY AND PROCEDURE

Books are placed on “reserve” each semester by faculty request. The books, journals, and related materials are shelved in the Circulation Area. To use these materials, one should do the following:

1. Consult the Reserve Book Catalog under the Instructor’s name to determine the title of the requested book.
2. Complete a Reserve Book Use Form.
3. Present the completed form and Student ID to the desk attendant.

It should be noted that a reserve book must be used in-house during the day and may circulate overnight, as determined by the Instructor. If overnight use is permissible, the book may be obtained thirty minutes before closing and returned not later than thirty minutes after the opening of the next business day. Books are issued on a first-serve” basis.

FINES

Reserve fines are assessed at 25 cents per hour or fraction of an hour, cumulative $2.00 per book, per day.

IF FEES ARE NOT PAID, IT BECOMES NECESSARY TO NOTIFY THE BUSINESS OFFICE AND THE REGISTRAR TO HOLD ALL ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES, GRADES, AND TRANSCRIPTS.
