AVAILABLE ELECTRONIC DATABASES

Online Databases, that support scholarly research and lifelong learning, are available from the Wright-Potts Library. These services can be accessed on networked computers throughout the campus and by remote access at OM sites external to the campus. To protect the security of electronic information, access information often changes. Please obtain the latest usernames and passwords from the Library.

The available electronic databases are:

INFOTRAC - (provided by DISCUS, South Carolina’s virtual library)

General Reference Center 1980 - current
A general interest database that integrates a variety of sources in one easy-to-use
interface. Use General Reference Center to find articles from magazines,
reference books, and newspapers, many with full-text and images.

Custom Newspapers: NY Times, Greenville News, Post & Courier
Full-text articles from: The New York Times, latest 365 days, and The Greenville (SC)
News, 1/2002+. Selected full-text articles from The Post & Courier (Charleston, SC), 1/2001+

InfoTrac OneFile 1980-
News and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current
events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities,
law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many
general interest topics.

Expanded Academic ASAP 1980- current
From arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, this
database meets research needs across all academic disciplines. Access scholarly
journals, news magazines, and newspapers, many with full text and images.

Business and Company ASAP 1980- current
Use this database to research information on companies, markets and industries,
from market trends, mergers and acquisitions to current management theories
and company overviews. Access business and trade journals, newspapers and
company directory profiles with full text and images.

LegalTrac 1980-current
Use this database to find articles in all major law reviews, law journals, specialty
law and bar association journals and legal newspapers. Included are articles on
Federal and State Cases, Laws and Regulations, Legal Practice, and Taxation.

Biography Resource Center + The Complete Marquis Who’s Who Jan 2003
This database combines award-winning biographies from respected Gale Group sources.
Search for people by birth and death year, nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender.
With the Complete Marquis Who’s Who, find quick reference information on an
additional 900,000 people.

Health and Wellness Resource Center 1980 - current
Use this database to find magazines, journals, newspapers, definitions, directories,
and information on Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Prescription Drugs, etc.
Included are links to diet, cancer and health assessment sites as well as government
databases.

NEWSBANK INFO WEB - a comprehensive, full-text news resource consisting of more than
500 regional, national and international newspaper and newsservice sources. Also includes the
complete editorial contents of 120 leading periodicals.

FIRSTSEARCH - a large collection of academic journals in many disciplines, from many publishers. It offers more than 70 databases in 14 topic areas.

SIRS Knowledge Source (provided by DISCUS)
SIRS Researcher - full-text articles on social, scientific, health, historic, economic, political and
global issues.

SIRS Government Reporter - text documents and graphics from agencies, departments
and commissions of the U.S. government. Information on health, science, economics,
environment, political and foreign affairs, workplace issues, business and industry.

SIRS Renaissance - Information on cultures, architecture, philosophy, religion and visual arts.
