Loan guarantees recharge nuclear debate

State Farm says it warned Feds about Toyota

Meantime, Toyota announced early Tuesday it would recall about 437,000 Prius and other hybrid vehicles to fix brake problems.The nation's largest auto insurer said Tuesday it alerted federal safety regulators in late 2007 about a rise in reports of unexpected acceleration in Toyota vehicles.

Early Priuses may have braking issues

After initially downplaying complaints by owners that 2010 Prius brakes could release unexpectedly, the troubled Japanese manufacturer acknowledged last weekthat it had quietly instituted a fix to solve the problem with the sedans that it has built since sometime in January.How far back do potential braking problems with the Toyota Prius go? The answer may be much further than believed, and could involve vehicles dating back to the 2005 model-year.
