A valid library card is required in order to check out materials from the library. These cards are issued free of charge to all persons who reside in, or own property, in northern Chaffee County. This courtesy also extends into southern Chaffee county, and small areas of Lake and Park counties.
To receive a library card, bring a photo identification and proof of a local mailing address. Proof of residency includes a valid driver’s license or registration showing your local mailing address, a bill, checkbook, or rent receipt. If you own property in the county, but do not receive mail while you are here, bring in your property tax statement as this will show that a portion of your taxes is given to the Library District.
Children, under 18 years of age, must have a parent’s signature and proof of address to apply for a library card. A parent’s signature on a child’s application form constitutes his/her permission for the child to have a card and the parent’s willingness to assume responsibility for all materials checked out on a child’s card.
Non-resident cards may be issued to a person visiting the Buena Vista area. Identification, local address and a $30 refundable deposit are required. Before leaving the area, all materials and the visitor’s card must be returned to receive the deposit.
Buena Vista Public Library accepts cards from all Colorado Library Card participants.
