Mastering the Mouse and Keyboard This class offers participants a chance to improve "mousing" skills during a supervised practice session. We will use the Mouse Tutorial software program and practice "clicking and dragging" and selecting text.
Learn to Type You will learn how to use a typing program offered in the
Basic Computing This class will define basic computer terms and focus on skills such as using a mouse and navigating the desktop. It has been designed for participants with no prior experience with computers.
Files and Folders This class offers participants a chance to create folders and move files so you can take that long list of files and put them into neatly organized folders.
Windows Basics Participants will have a chance to learn and practice valuable Microsoft Windows skills such as navigating and sizing several windows and file management. We will also review common Windows symbols and conventions as well as commonly used Control Panel functions such as Display configuration and Printer control.
Buying a Computer Buying a Computer is designed to give the inexperienced computer buyer insight into the buzzwords, acronyms, and jargon used in computer advertising. Attend this class to find out what to buy to accomplish your computing needs.
Free Software Who says nothing is free? This class covers different kinds of free computer programs, how to get them, and the most common/useful programs for you to use. Prerequisite: Basic Internet
Computer Security & Maintenance This explains the threats of spyware and viruses, and explores different ways of removing and protecting your computer from them. We will also offer tips on how to keep your hard drive clean.

Wireless 101 Take a look at what equipment is needed to go wireless! Then watch as we find and connect to a wireless network so that you can do it too.
Basic Word Basic Word will cover opening a saved document, starting a new document, editing, spell checking and other basic functions of MS word.
Intermediate Word Learn how to change margins and create tables in a Word document.
Advanced Graphics in Word This class will cover adding clipart, images from a file, WordArt, backgrounds, and shapes.
Mail Merge Learn how to combine a form letter with an address list. We will also cover printing envelopes and labels to go along with your letter.
Introduction to Excel
Participants will learn about the uses of spreadsheets, and will create and
edit a spreadsheet that includes data and formulas.
Spreadsheets Charts and Formulas Make impressive charts and graphs with your spreadsheet data. We will also cover creating formulas using worksheet functions and formulas with multiple operations.
Introduction to Access Participants will learn about various uses for databases and use Microsoft Access to create and manipulate a simple database. Note: Before attempting this class, you should have strong basic computing skills and be proficient in MS Windows.
Advanced Access You will learn how to import and export data, and understand table relationships. Prerequisites: Introduction to Access
Greeting Cards & Brochures Make personalized greeting cards or colorful brochures! Learn how to use Microsoft Publisher and its Wizard Tools to format a card, insert clip art or photos, and print exciting publications!
Introduction to PowerPoint Want to make colorful, animated presentations? Learn the basics of Microsoft PowerPoint and add a few fun features to give your presentations style! Attendees to this class should have prior Microsoft Office and Windows experience.
Advanced PowerPoint This class teaches how to use animation, sound, and notes to your presentation. You will learn how to loop presentations and different ways to print your slides. Prerequisite: Introduction to PowerPoint
Office Integration is an advanced Office class designed to integrate three of the major components in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Access. In this class, you will create a database in Access, a chart in Excel and integrate them into a form letter in Word. Prerequisites: Basic Word, Introduction to Spreadsheets and Introduction to Access.
Basic Internet This class will cover Internet
terminology, how to use the browser, navigate the Internet and conduct a simple
search.
Internet Searching
Internet
Searching will focus on searching, search techniques and finding the
information you really want. We will also look at subscription Internet sites
available at CRDL.
Email
Basics You will learn how to get started
with free web-based e-mail (like Yahoo! and Hotmail). Participants should have
an e-mail address before the class starts (we can help you set this up before
the class). The class will cover sending, receiving and managing the mail
account.
E-mail Attachments This class will cover retrieving
and sending attachments in your e-mail. We will open and send attachments as
well as scan photos for e-mailing. Perfect for learning how to send family
pictures!
Build a Web Page In this class, you learn the common terms associated with websites, how to understand web addresses, and the different methods and programs available for creating web pages. You will also explore Yahoo Geocities, a free web page creator powered by Yahoo.
HTML 101 HTML, or hypertext markup language is the computer code in which web pages are written. This class teaches you to navigate this code and even learn to write HTML. Prerequisite: Basic Internet
Online Shopping This class covers the basics to navigating different types of shopping websites. The class also will go over how to shop safely online, the difference between eBay and shopping websites, and the benefits to buying products online. Prerequisite: Basic Internet
Buying on eBay Buying on
eBay offers a basic understanding of eBay, tips and tricks for bidding, and
effective ways for searching the millions of items available.
Google: Even the Kitchen Sink Learn more about the many features of the Google website. We will explore Google's image searching, maps & directions, and some of the handy, built-in search functions.
Corners of the Web Sure, you know how to “Google” your favorite actor and where to go to buy things online, but where to go from there? This class will introduce you to lesser-known but very useful (and fun!) websites.
What's MySpace Understand social networking terminology and learn the many facets of the online community, including blogs, wikis, MySpace and Facebook. Also explores the benefits and dangers of being connected.
Newspaper & Magazine Articles Students and adults will learn how to use Infotrac to find newspaper articles from the New York Times, Detroit News and Grand Rapids Press. We will also look for current articles in many popular magazines and journals. Check out these great sources for full text, online news!
