District Information/Budgets

In 1998, the Chippewa River District Library system was established . The district area encompasses the City of Mt. Pleasant, the Mt. Pleasant Public School System and Union Township. Two trustees are appointed by each of the public agencies comprising the Chippewa River District Library system. The Chippewa River District Library is funded by a millage levied in the district area and a contract negotiated with Isabella County to provide library service to out-of-district residents of Isabella County. The board of trustees, as representatives of the library's service area, constitute the body which is officially responsible for the operation of the library. Monthly board meetings are on the second Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room of Veterans Memorial Library.

The district area includes Veterans Memorial Library in Mt. Pleasant and Faith Johnston Memorial Library in Rosebush. It is through the contract with Isabella County that the district library operates four additional branches; Coe Township Library in Shepherd, Fremont Township Library in Winn, Rolland Township Library in Blanchard, and Weidman Public Library in Weidman
