CPL Patron Technology
Claiborne Parish Library offers a selection of technology services to meet the needs of our patrons and guests. Our user software fleet consists of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and high speed internet to make your computer session productive and enjoyable. Our Young Adult and Children's computers are content controlled and protected, giving parents confidence that their children are not being exposed to explicit websites. We are currently operating 2 children's computer centers. Our main branch in Homer and the Joe.W. Webb Library in Haynesville. Both centers have areas set aside for children learning technology and games. Child friendly software, keyboards, headphones, and mice make your child's learning experience fun and educational.
Boggy Creek Monster
Find out why you’re not alone in the woods! Thursday,October 5, 2017, Dallas based Bigfoot researcher Lyle Blackburn, author of “The Beast of Boggy Creek” and “The Lizard Man,” returns to the Claiborne Parish Library. Prepare for an evening investigating the realm of unknown creatures of the outdoors. Since his last visit in 2015, Lyle has authored and published a new book “Beyond Boggy Creek” which explores the phenomena of Bigfoot type creatures across the southern United States. Additionally, in a working association with the production company Small Town Monsters, Lyle co-produced and narrates the film “Boggy Creek Monster.” The film revisits the history and lore of the “Boggy Creek Monster” aka “Fouke Monster” of Southwest Arkansas, and updates what is known about this mysterious creature. Our visit with Lyle will begin at 5:00 P.M. and then we will screen the new film “Boggy Creek Monster” starting at 6:30 P.M. October will be here before you know it!

UAVs for Forest Applications
The Claiborne Parish Library and Trailblazer RC&D will be hosting the program "UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) for Forest Applications". The event will be held at The Claiborne Parish Library Multi-Purpose Meeting Room Homer, LA Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Program begins at 6:30 pm. Our guest Speaker will be Wesley Palmer, GIS Program Coordinator, Spatial Data Lab Supervisor, GIS/GPS Instructor, Louisiana Tech University Department of Forestry. UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicles), commonly known as drones, are growing in popularity for use in agriculture. Farmers are using this technology to monitor their crops, aquire data, and protect their crops from pests and animals. This same UAV technology is being used by Louisiana timber growers and foresters to assess timber resources. Wesley Palmer is one of the Louisiana's leading innovators in training foresters and landowners to use UAV's for forest applications Seating is limited, call 318-927-3845 or 318-255-3554.
