ART EXHIBIT The artwork of more than a dozen advanced students at the Somerset Art Association and their instructor, Anne Kullaf, will be on display at the Clarence Dillon Public Libraryfrom January 4 through 29. Titled “Individual Expressions”, the show will include works in oil, acrylic and pastels. The art may be viewed during library hours.
The students’ work reflects Kullaf’s style of instruction which utilizes a variety of media and medium-specific techniques, as well as strong emphasis on color and composition. Student Dale Harris, Basking Ridge, N.J., says, “From Anne, I’ve learned that painting is not about replicating exactly what I see, it’s about creating something new, from my point of view.” Chris Johnson, Bedminster, N.J., adds, “Anne’s teaching style first addresses what I want to accomplish and then targets the specific help I need to get there.” Angelika Muenker, Somerset, N.J., says, “When several of us paint from the same still-life, it is exciting to see the variety of approaches; I’m always inspired.”
Kullaf teaches charcoal, acrylic, pastel and oil painting for adults at all levels at Somerset Art Association in Bedminster and New Jersey Visual Arts Center in Summit. Her work is regularly seen in gallery and museum exhibitions in New Jersey, New York and beyond.
