General Information

Applying for a Card
All residents of Montgomery County are eligible for a library card at no cost. To apply, simply present proof of your identity and current address at the Circulation Desk. Parents must sign for children under the age of 18. Fort Campbell soldiers (and their dependents) and Austin Peay State University students are considered Montgomery County residents for library purposes. A military ID card or APSU student ID card and a local address is required. Non-residents must pay a $20.00 annual fee to receive a library card.

Returns, Renewals, and Late Charges
With a few exceptions, library materials may be checked out for three weeks and then renewed for three weeks (one renewal). Most items can be renewed by phone or by internet using our "Your Account" web page if a patron is unable to make it to the library. Below, for quick reference, is a chart that lists loan and renewal periods as well as late fees for various items. Loan periods may change so be sure to check your receipt or ask any staff member.

Item Loan Period Late Fee Per Day Renewal Period
Books 21 days $0.25 21 days
Audiobooks 21 Days $0.25 21 Days
Videotapes 7 Days $1.00 Not Renewable
Music CD's 7 Days $1.00 Not Renewable

For your convenience, a drop box is available for after-hours returns. You'll find it at the rear of the building. Late materials should be returned to the Circulation Desk, if possible. Uncollected late fees will be assessed to the patron's account and must be paid before additional materials may be checked out.

Memorials and Contributions
If you're looking for a special way to honor a special person, there are few better ways than making a gift to the public library. Such a gift offers a unique and lasting tribute to the person who loves books, reading and learning. Monetary gifts may be applied toward the purchase of a particular book or books or donated to a general fund used to enlarge the library's collections. Donated books or books purchased through monetary contributions bear an attractive plate inscribed with the giver and the honored person's name. All donations are tax deductible. For more information on making a donation or memorial simply call or stop by the library.
