 4th-5th Grade Book Club--3rd Tuesdays, 4:30-5:45
Children read a new book each month.  We begin each meeting with an ice breaker game, followed by book discussion and a related activity.  This month we are reading Wonder.  Stop by the Youth Services Desk to pick up a copy of the book and sign up.

Book Description:

August Pullman was born with a facial deformity that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid--but his new classmates cant get past Auggies extraordinary face. WONDER, now a #1 "New York Times" bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggies point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one communitys struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
