Not convinced the threat to his sister is over, Caleb tries to get to the bottom of why she was kidnapped in the first place, and just when he's fitting the pieces togetherher captors were trying to leverage him into using his unique, dangerous gifts to kill a target in a way that wouldn't cause suspicionhe learns they've shifted their interest to Jane, believing she and Caleb are lovers. Once they have their hands on her, he must use his wits and gather some of Jane's devoted and resourceful friends in order to save her as well as his would-be victim. Johansen returns to the world of Eve Duncan, Joe Quinn, and Jane MacGuiresuspense with a touch of supernaturalto resounding success and ties up some loose ends and romantic possibilities from past books.
