Notice to Patrons of the Duncanville Public Library
The following rules are posted for the comfort and protection of all that use this library. We expect your cooperation in maintaining as environment conducive to study and enjoyable use of the library.
Smoking is not permitted in the Library (Ordinance #1190).
Soliciting is prohibited.
Physical abuse, assault on another person, or the use of abusive, insulting, or threatening language to a person in this building shall be cause for the removal of the offending party or parties by law enforcement authorities.
Individuals who are drunk and/or disorderly shall be banned from admission.
Improper acts, which are subject to prosecution under criminal or civil codes of law, are prohibited.
There is no public area for eating or drinking in this building.
Guide dogs for the disabled are admitted, but other animal or bird pets are to remain outside the building.
Running or throwing objects are not permitted in this building.
Roller skates, roller blades, and skateboards are not permitted in this building or on surrounding walkways and parking lot.
Loud or boisterous behavior is not permitted.
Failure to follow librarian’s verbal instructions or defiance of library staff may result in expulsion from the library.
Failure to check out library materials properly may result in loss of library privileges.
Vandalism or abuse of the library, its property, equipment or materials can result in legal prosecution.
Possession of alcohol, narcotics, or weapons is forbidden in the library.
Anyone known to have violated any of the above rules may be excluded from the library as a matter of administrative policy.
The use of cell phones and pagers will be discouraged. These items should be placed on a quiet setting out of courtesy to all patrons.
If a patron notices a violation of the above rules, they will notify the nearest library staff member who will take appropriate action. The library staff will maintain a record of all reported incidents. If the incident involves a juvenile, the parents of the juvenile will be notified.
