Checking Out/Renewing/Overdue Fees

How long can I check out an item and how many can I have?

Books may be checked out for two (2) weeks and may be renewed twice as long as no one else has requested them.  Patrons are limited to five (5) titles by any one author or on one subject.

Magazines, other than the most current issue, may be checked out for one (1) week and may be renewed twice as long as no one else has requested the issue.  The current issue stays in the library until the next issue is received.

To check out DVDs a patron must be 18 years of age.  There is a limit of three (3) DVDs per library card.  DVDs check out for one (1) week.  A DVD may be renewed once as long as no one else has requested it.  Music CDs will follow the same rules established for DVDs, but may be checked out on a child’s card.

An audio book may be checked out for three (3) weeks.  There is a limit of three (3) audio books per library card.  An audio book may be renewed once as long as no one else has requested it.

One (1) board game may be checked out for three (3) weeks.  It may not be renewed.

Each patron is limited to twenty-five (25) items per account.  Exceptions will be granted to patrons of the bookmobile due to circumstances which may be beyond their control i.e. inclement weather that denies delivery or inability to leave their place of residence.

 

What are the overdue charges and when can my account be blocked?

Books, audio books, and music CDs will carry a fine of $.10 per day an item is overdue.

Board games will carry a fine of $.25 per day an item is overdue.

DVDs will carry a fine of $.50 per day an item is overdue.

A patron’s account will be fined to a maximum of $5.00.  Should a patron’s account reach this fine level, their account will be blocked from any further transactions until such time as the patron pays the account to a level below the limit.

Fines will not accrue during days the library is closed.

Patrons may not check out any new material if they have overdue items on their account.  These items must be renewed, and any applicable fine assessed, or the items returned before other items can be checked out.

Book drops are located at the library, in Ravenna at Bryant's Paint Store, in West Irvine at Honchell's Clothing, and at the Moberly Shell station in Madison County.
