His four-part series “Developing Global Mindset” will focus on the dynamics of intercultural communication. October 1 at 7:30 pm: What is Culture, and Why is it Such a Big Deal?
We learn “culture” from our parents, family, friends, colleagues, the media and so forth. Culture is defined as a shared set of preferred values, beliefs, attitudes, assumptions and behaviors that define the way of life of a group. It becomes part of our sense of identity that we take with us as we interact with others and go through our lives. For most, cultural identity is almost entirely unconscious.
