October 1 at 7:30 pm: What is Culture, and Why is it Such a Big Deal?
We learn “culture” from our parents, family, friends, colleagues, the media and so forth. Culture is defined as a shared set of preferred values, beliefs, attitudes, assumptions and behaviors that define the way of life of a group. It becomes part of our sense of identity that we take with us as we interact with others and go through our lives. But for most of us, our cultural identities are almost entirely unconscious.
