Fortin, who holds a degree in psychology, and Quilici, who studied interior design, have developed a system based on self-examination that is designed to aid those endeavoring to eliminate too many possessions. Although the authors provide some design advice, their primary focus is sharing the techniques that have been successful with the clients of their firm New Minimalism. They advocate a massive purge rather than chipping away bit-by-bit, with an emphasis on donating and recycling, and identify the mind-sets that lead people to keep so much. The authors then detail how to apply their system room by room as well as provide real-life examples from their clients. VERDICT Using these guidelines may finally provide the means necessary for those struggling to live a clutter-free life. © Copyright 2018.
