Lalleman and Thuillier's long-snouted Wolf is back, and he's ready to find his own "special someone." Mr. Owl tells him, "You don't find love, you just fall in love," advice that Wolf takes quite literally and winds up "covered in bumps and bruises." Following the instructions of his other friends, Wolf bathes, dons his best Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses, memorizes love poems, and gathers flowers. His first effort to woo a passing wolf doesn't go well, but a second run-in sends his heart a-flutter. "She was sort of cute, and certainly a nice lady wolf," Wolf thinks, not so charitably. It's a bit old-fashioned, and may strike some readers as somewhat regressive, but the story's slapstick moments should get giggles. Readers will recognize the wisdom in the notion that love can't be forced-it needs to come about naturally (and sometimes happens quite quickly). Ages 3-up. (Dec.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
