FACSIMILE POLICY

The Gallatin County Library has a fax machine in order to hasten the delivery of information to library patrons.
Copies from books, magazines, etc that are faxed to the library as an Inter Library Loan request, the patron will be charged ten cents per page.
The charges for public use not library-related will be as follows:
Transmit first page: $3.00
Additional Pages: .50 per page
Receiving: .50 cents per page
All overseas fax users will be charged an additional $3.00 to cover phone charge.
LIBRARY OPERATION POLICY

The library shall serve all residents of the community. Service will not be denied or abridged because of religion, racial, social, economic, or political status.
The use of the library or its services may be denied for due cause. Such cause may be: failure to return books other circulated material, pay penalties or destruction of library property.
New borrowers are required to show identification (drivers license, etc), proof of residence in county (personalized bank check, rent or utility receipt, voter registration card, etc).
Accurate information concerning name, home address, work address and phone numbers
Are required, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Persons residing outside of the geographical area, but owning property in Gallatin County shall be considered residents upon proof of ownership (canceled check, tax bill, etc).
Borrowers are required to report change of name, address or phone number after library card is issued.
Library card will be valid for one year from issue date.
Borrowers under 16 years of age must have parent or legal guardian present to sign library application. Parent or guardian is responsible for all library material checked out by said patron.
The Gallatin County Public Library honors borrowers cards from the following counties with whom we have reciprocal borrowing agreements (Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Grant, Kenton, Pendelton and Owen.) Borrowers from these counties will be issued a Gallatin County Card upon proof of valid library card from participating county.
Person from counties or states outside of stated areas will be charged a $20.00 fee per year. Proper ID required.
Replacement of library cards lost, stolen or destroyed under 1 year old will be $3.00.
New borrowers are limited to 3 books for first check out.
PUBLIC COMPUTER POLICY
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 1997

The Gallatin County Pubic library offers computer access to any patron in good standing. Children under six (6) must have adult supervision. Time will be limited to 30 minutes but may be extended in special circumstances or when no one is waiting to use the computers.
The library staff will enforce a limit of one (1) hour a day for each patron of computer usage to ensure that all patrons have computer access. Children are encouraged to use the computers available in the Children’s Wing; these computers have been programmed especially for patrons of this age group to include games.
Serious computer users are encouraged to reserve time blocks of 1 hour in advance.
Only library-authorized programs may be used with the computers. DO NOT attempt to install and use a program that you have brought with you, DO NOT store information on the hard drive or alter in any way. YOUR PRIVILEDGES WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY CANCELED.
The library staff cannot provide in depth training concerning personal computer use, we may however be able to offer suggestions.
There is no charge for computer use but a charge of 10 cents per sheet will be charged for printing information.
Please sign up at front desk to use computers. Our computers are password protected; this password WILL NOT be given out.
ADDITIONAL RULES APPLY TO INTERNET USAGE.
It is library policy to utilize and safeguard the library’s electronic equipment. Library patrons will utilize equipment within the guidelines of this policy. Electronic equipment owned by the Library will be kept in a secure environment, under the general supervision of the library staff during the hours when the library is open. During the hours when the library is not open the facility will be locked. The equipment will be made secure in an inaccessible area of the building if one section of the building is in use, unless staff is present to supervise equipment and prevent theft or damage.
