| 1965 | There was a book drop in Newman’s store. Books provided by the Regional Library |
| 1967 | Three local service clubs provided funds to rent a 24x40 ft room in the basement of the Missionary Baptist Church on Walton Ferry Road for the Hendersonville Library. There were 2000 books on loan from the Regional Library. Circulation – 158 books in a month. |
| 1968 | Funds were raised from the City of Hendersonville, Sumner County and the citizens of the area to build a 40x80 sq ft building on Dunn St. Circulation – 300 books a month. |
| 1969 | Moved into new building, which had room for 8,500 books. There were now 4,000 volumes. Circulation - 2,662 a month. |
| 1979 | The space built for 8,500 books now housed 27,962 volumes. Circulation – 10,542 a month. |
| 1980 | The Hendersonville Library Guild began a drive to raise funds to enlarge the building. Again monies from the City, County and businesses and individual contributions a 6,000 sq ft addition was begun. |
| 1982 | In April the addition was completed and the 30,155 volumes were moved in. Circulation: 10,844. |
| 1986 | Book stock at 38,000 volumes, 120 magazine subscriptions, 3,200 articles in the vertical file, 225 filmstrips and cassettes. Circulation – 13,847 a month. |
| 1989 | Following an inventory of our holdings and weeding out-of-date and damaged book stock our holdings are: 39,000 books, 130 periodicals and 3 years back issues, 3,158 vertical items. Circulation – average 14,000. |
| 1990 | Through the efforts of the Library Guild we applied for and received a matching grant to build another addition to the building. Again we called upon the City and County who matched the grant funds and building began. The Guild solicited funds from businesses and citizens to furnish the addition And we now enjoy a building that is 14,800 sq.ft |
| 2000 | By the year 2000 the added space was full. Our lovely meeting room was used as a workroom, house the computer server and two work computers; more shelving had been added (twice) to the children’s and juvenile sections and paperback areas and the audio and video sections are filled to capacity. More computers and then more computers were added for patron use. |
| 2002 | FOALS (Friends of the Arts and Literature in Sumner) was founded to begin the process of building a new library facility. |

| 2007 | August 9, 2007 – Groundbreaking was held at the New Library Site. |
