Wi-Fi Internet Access at Jasper Public Library
Enjoy the Freedom of Wi-Fi Technology!
Use your own Wi-Fi enabled laptop to log on to the Internet at your friendly Jasper Public Library.

Jasper Public Library provides free wireless internet access to library users with appropriately equipped laptop computers at this location.
Using Windows 2000 or XP
• Click on “Start”
• Go to “Settings” then “Control Panel”
• Double Click on “Network and Dial-up Connections” or “Network Connections”
• Right-click on all Local Area Connections, click on “Properties”
• In “Components checked are being used by this connection” select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”
• Click on “Properties”
• Select “Obtain an IP address automatically”
• Click on “OK”
• Click on “OK”
• Restart Computer
If you are still unable to connect, do the following:
• Click on “Start”, “Run” and type cmd, press the Enter key. (a command window will appear)
• Then type “ipconfig” and pres the Enter key
• Type in “ipconfig /release” and press the Enter key.
• Type in “ipconfig /renew” and press the Enter key.
• Finally exit the window and launch your web browser to start surfing.
Using Windows 98/ME
• Click on “Start”
• Go to “Settings” then “Control Panel”
• Double click on “Network”
• Select the network component associated with the Wi-Fi device
• Click on “Properties”
• Select the “IP Address” tab
• Select “Obtain an IP address automatically”
• Click “OK”
• Click “OK”
• Restart Computer
Using Macintosh OS X
• At the “Apple menu”, select “System Preferences”, select “Network.” Verify that “Show” is set to AirPort”
• Select the “TCP/IP” tab. The settings should appear as follows: Configure: Using DHCP. Leave all else blank.
• Click “Save”.
• Under “System Preferences”, select “Quit System Preferences.” Launch your web browser to start surfing.

The Library's Internet usage policy forbids users to access materials that are legally defined as obscene or harmful to minors. Library users are expected to respect the Library's policy and act responsibly with regard to others' sensitivity to certain materials. The Library’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent from or to your laptop can be captured by anyone with a wireless device and the appropriate software.
Library staff members are not able to provide technical assistance and cannot guarantee that you will be able to make a wireless connection.
The Library is not responsible for the safety of equipment or laptop configurations, for Internet security or data files on your computer.
Wireless Internet Availability:
The library’s wireless network is only available during the open hours of the library.
