Borrowing Policy

The library at Northwestern collects books, videos, sound recordings, journals and software. These materials are available for Northwestern students, staff and faculty to use, and except for reference books and journals, may all be borrowed. Software may be used on the computers in the library. Students must present a Northwestern ID card in order to check materials out of the library; staff and faculty keep their cards at the circulation desk.

Field doctors and the general public are also welcome to use the library's resources. They may borrow materials if they have an account established with the University's bookstore, or if they make special arrangements with library staff.

For doctors or off-campus users: Literature searches and articles can be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed at the patron's convenience. Books, audiotapes, and kits can be sent via mail or UPS. Videotapes must be borrowed in person, but can be returned via U.S. Mail. Library charges for these services reflect our costs; contact the library for current fees.
