AltHealthWatch: This full-text database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It includes articles from more than 170 international peer-reviewed and professional journals, magazines, reports, proceedings, association & consumer newsletters (most from 1990 to the present), plus hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts. AMED: (Allied and Alternative Medicine Index). Created by the British Library, this index covers subjects such as complementary medicine, palliative care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation.
CINAHL: (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature). Extensive coverage of the nursing literature and such related fields as emergency service, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. In recent years they have increased coverage of natural health therapies including chiropractic.
EBSCO Databases: Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, Regional Business News, and MasterFILE Premier.
Herbalgram: American Botanical Council's online resource for herbal news and information. Obtain user ID and password at library information desk.
Journal of Chinese Medicine: Full-text version with simple search options. Also includes an index (with abstracts) to the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the Library only!
Mantis: (Manual, Alternative & Natural Therapy Database). A primary health care database emphasizing health promotion, prevention and conservative care. Methods of conservative management such as acupuncture, exercise therapy, joint manipulation, and physical therapy are extensively reviewed.
Medline: Half of the journals to which we currently subscribe are indexed in Medline. It focuses on the literature of the Western medical profession. It also indexes a few chiropractic journals and many acupuncture, massage, and alternative health journals.
Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database: Scientific gold standard for evidence-based, clinical information on natural medicines. Access via eNorthwestern
Newspapers: (ProQuest). Full-text access to 532 newspapers worldwide (including the Star Tribune).
OCLC FirstSearch: WorldCat will take you to a catalog of books, web resources, and other material worldwide.
