Family Place

 

Family Place Library is a network of children's librarians nationwide who believe that literacy begins at birth, and that libraries can help build healthy communities by nourishing healthy families.

Family Place builds on the knowledge of health, early learning, parental invovlement and partnerships within the community to play a critical role in young children's growth and development.

 

 


 

As a Family Place Library, Nueces County Keach Family Library offers the following services:

Parenting Collection: We offer books, DVD's, resources and electronic resources for parents and caregivers on topics ranging from pregnancy through the teen years, nutrition, autism, potty training & more! Please visit our Parent/Caregiver Collection site for more information.

Play Space: The designated area in Pop Pop's Place offers many toys and manipulatives for babies and toddlers to explore. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to interact with their children and each other. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times in the play area.

Community Partners: Keach Family Library partners with community agencies to bring health information and best parenting practices to parents and caregivers in a friendly and informal setting.

Librarians & Library Clerks: Our Librarians are trained in family support, child development, and parent education. Our Library Clerks offer carefully curated programs and assist wtih answering your questions.

A Family Place Library at Nueces County Public Libraries
Keach Family Library

 

Five week program that involves toddlers and thier parents and/or caregivers.

                                                                         

The intended workshops builds on knowledge that good health, early learning, parental involvement and supportive communitities play a critical role in young children's growth and development.

Program begins:

Topics will include the following:

    Features local professionals who serve as resources for parents
    Emphasizes the role of parents as the first teachers of thier children
    Facilitates early intervention
    Teaches strategies for healthy child development and early literacy
    Gives parents/guardians and their children a safe, welcoming place to play in the community
    Fun for everybody
