How do I get a library card?

Library card applicants must have proof of address when applying for a card. Any child 14 years and younger must have a parent or guardian sign for responsiblity of materials borrowed.

How many items may I borrow?

Two items may be borrowed the first time a library card is used. Thereafter, a patron in good standing may borrow up to 25 books and three videos.

How long may I keep my books and tapes?

Book and audio materials are loaned for two weeks. Videos and DVD's are loaned for one week. Borrowers are responsible for late or lost items, and a small fine will be levied for overdue items.

May I renew over the telephone?

Yes, all materials may be renewed by calling the library at 502-484-3450 or online at htttp://www.owencountylibrary.org.

May I reserve a book from home?

Yes. You may reserve a book at the circulation desk, by phone or on the library website.

How do I get a book that is not in the Owen County collection?

We are happy to borrow what you need through the national inter-library loan program. Ask at the circulation desk or send an email via the library website.

Do you have old newspapers at the library?

The library stores copies of The News-Herald from 1905 on microfilm.

May I find out about my Owen County ancestors at the library?

The Owen County Historical Society collection of genealogy and historic information is housed at the library. Records of the Owen County Clerk are cataloged and are available on microfilm.
