About Our Library

Owen County is the Heartbeat of the Golden Triangle, located entirely within the boundaries of I-75, I-71, I-64, less than a one hour drive from Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati, OH.

The library provides a wide variety of services that are heavily used by the community. In 2009 the library recorded 58,000 visits in a facility that has remained the same size since 1973. According to KDLA guidelines, the building is undersized by approximately 6,000 square feet to serve our anticipated population in 2020.

The current library board has hired architectural firm Brandstetter Carroll and initiated plans for a new library facility, as recommended by the long range planning committee in 2007. To see the entire document, click on the Long Range Planning link on this website. All citizens are invited to take part in the public elements of the planning process for the new library.

Library board members are Doug Ball, Mike Cobb, Peggy Trinkle, Marsha Derringer and Sandy Bush.
