Poetry Contest
Thank you for participating in our 4th Annual Youth Poetry Contest.
 
Let's review the rules: 
 
The Youth/Teen Poetry Contest is only for students in Miami & Shelby Counties in Ohio. Poems will be judged in four grade divisions: K-3rd, 4th-6th, 7th-9th, and 10th-12th.
 
Three prize winners will be named in each division.
1st place winners receive $50
2nd place winners receive $25
3rd place winners receive $10
There will also be a "Library Favorite" $50 winner.

Poems MUST be original work, of any style, on any topic, not to exceed 30 lines.
Content must be appropriate for public presentation.
Home-schooled and alternative-school students are welcome.
Poet MUST be a resident of either Shelby or Miami County in Ohio and MUST be a student in grades K-12.
Only one entry per person. There is no entry fee.

Poems can be submitted several ways: by filling out this online entry form; dropping off printed entries at the library; sending them as an email attachment to rheintz@piqualibrary.org; or you can send them by mail to:

Mailed copies MUST be received by the deadline of 3/31/17 in order to be judged.

Each poem submitted as printed material MUST include a cover sheet that lists:

1. The title of the poem attached (if the poem has a title).
2. First and last name of the poet.
3. Home address, phone number, and email (if available).
4. School name and address, Language Arts teacher's name and contact information, and your grade level. (Homeschoolers may simply provide grade level and home address.)

All entries must be received by 3/31/17. No late entries will be accepted. 
 
Poems remain the intellectual property of the author. However, the submission of a poem grants the library permission to publish the work in any appropriate format to promote area youth poetry. Paper submissions will not be returned.
