Adult Summer Reading Program
June 20-August 10, 2011

Travel the world with books!!! Sign up for the Adult Summer Reading Program at the Adult Reference desk. Prizes will be awarded to all participants, as well as chances to win our grand prize, a Barnes and Noble Nook Color e-reader. Tell us where your books have taken you for a chance to win a copy of Nancy Pearl's Book Lust to Go. The Adult Summer Reading program is made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Pomona Public Library.

Children's Summer Reading Program
June 20 - August 10, 2011

Children may sign up to read five or more hours, up to 20 hours, to earn free books and other great prizes! For every five hours read alone or with an adult, children ages 4 and up will be entered into the Reader of the Week Raffle for a special prize. Teen may sign up to read 4 books to earn a prize and be entered in our Special Grand Prize Drawing. Sign up ends on July 30. Prizes are limited in quantity.

This year Pomona Public Library is proud to present these two special programs for youth entering grades 7-12:
*July 12 @ 3:30pm - R&R; Divers will give a fascinating a multimedia presentation on their exciting underwater treasure hunts.
*July 26 @ 3:30pm - Lasermania will present a stunning musical laser show.

***Special Wednesday Afternoon Children's Programs!

Join us every Wednesday from July 7 - August 11 at 3:30pm as we take different adventures with these great programs!

August 3 Ms. Lois's Puppet Readers Theater

- Kids ages 8 and older who wish to participate in performing skits and songs with Ms. Lois should sign up at the Children's Desk. All participates must be available to attend all mandatory rehearsal dates.
Rehearsals will be held from 2:30-3:30 pm on:
July 19, 20, 26, 27, and August 2 and 3.

Celebrate your reading accomplishments at this special program with Pacific Animals!

***Reading Buddies

June 27 - July 27 Mondays: 12-4pm, Tuesdays: 1-4pm,
Wednesdays: 12-2pm

- Encourage good reading skills over the summer in your elementary student. School aged children that have learned to read may read aloud to a volunteer in one-on-one, half-hour sessions. Students must register at the Children's Desk.
- High school and college aged volunteers are needed to mentor younger students who are practicing their reading skills.
Applications are available at the Children's Desk.

***Story Times

- Parents with children ages 0-5 years old are invited to enjoy stories, songs, and more. Story Time lasts approximately 25-30 minutes. No registration is required.
