We are now able to offer Wi-Fi hotspots! Users (ages 18 and older) with a Portland Public Library card that has been active for at least 30 days may borrow a FREE hotspot. The loan period for hotspots is 7 days, and if there is no wait list, they may be renewed for an additional 7-day period. Hotspot holds and check-outs are limited to one per household. Children's Programs   

 

LAPSIT – FOR KIDS UNDER 3 (Friday mornings at 10:30)
These are programs for infants and toddlers under age 3 and their caregivers. The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes and fingerplays (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary).

 

 

December 1: It’s National Christmas Lights Day:  Stories & songs about twinkling lights. In addition, stickers!.

December 8: Hanukkah began last night: Stories, songs & rhymes about this holiday!
December 15: Christmas Counting Stories:  Plus songs, rhymes, finger plays, & stickers!

December 22: Animals at Christmas: stories, songs, rhymes, & stickers

December 29: Stories about staying awake: Songs & rhymes about New Years! Plus stickers!

 

 

 

Wednesday Mornings at 10:30am (for kids ages 3-5)

 

December 6: It's Mitten Tree Day (whatever that means?) - Stories about mittens/gloves. Music, movement, & a craft/coloring page included!

December 13: Today is both Cocoa Day & Ice Cream Day - We’ll learn a little bit about cocoa & share some ice cream stories.  We will sing, dance, color, & paste!

December 20: Funny Christmas/Holiday Stories - We’ll share some stories, maybe sing holiday songs, and color/decorate a paper Christmas tree!

December 27: It’s Almost New Years - Learn about New Years’ traditions & staying awake.  We’ll make kazoos to “sound in the New Year”.

 

Wednesday Afternoons at 3:30pm (for Kindergarten & older)

 

December 6: A Big Welcome to our Guest Reader -  We’ll have a “grinchy” good time.  We’ll play a favorite game we haven’t played in a long time!

December 13: It’s Ice Cream Day We are going to try to make ice cream in a bag!

December 20: Holiday Traditions - Holiday traditions around the world and sharing our own family traditions!

December 27: New Years’ Traditions around the World-  Then, we’ll create our own noise and try to play music with colored bells!

FAMILY EVENTS (ALL AGES)

 

Crochet Club: December 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 30th at 10:30am

All are welcome regardless of skill level.  Ages 10 & up. Bring a hook & yarn!

 

Tea Time: December 9th 11:30-12:30

Gather for a relaxing time of conversation & tea

 

 

Teen Programs for middle & high schoolers (Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm)

December 7:  DIY Hot Cocoa Bar & Cookie Decorating - Today Tweens & Teens can choose ingredients to add to their hot cocoa and items to decorate their cookies!

December 14: Graham Cracker Gingerbread HousesChristmas/Winter time is coming.  We need to construct ourselves a candy covered gingerbread house!

December 21: Winter Celebration-  Tweens & Teens, hit up the Dollar Tree or make a gift costing around $2-5 as part of our gift game.  Dress jolly & let’s party!

December 28: Game Day - Here we go!  The challenge is on!  It’s finally Game Day @PPL for Middle/High Schoolers; come by, hang out, and enjoy some fun & laughs with friends!

Adult Programs

 

Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM

Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.  

 

Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, December 6th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room 

A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any vetran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms.  No appointment necessary.  First come, first serve basis.

 

Genealogy Club: December 2nd at 10am

Should you ask Santa for Family Tree Maker?  Join Paula as she shares information on the Family Tree Maker Software.

 

Crafts!: Tuesday, December 19th at 2:30 PM

Join us to make a cute craft!  All supplies provided.  Sign up is required.

 

Page Turners Book Club: Thursday, December 21st at 11:30 AM
