Wi-Fi Hotspots

We are now able to offer Wi-Fi hotspots! Users (ages 18 and older) with a Portland Public Library card that has been active for at least 30 days may borrow a FREE hotspot. The loan period for hotspots is 7 days, and if there is no wait list, they may be renewed for an additional 7-day period. Hotspot holds and check-outs are limited to one per household. Children's Programs   

 

LAPSIT – FOR KIDS UNDER 3 (Friday mornings at 10:30)
These are programs for infants and toddlers under age 3 and their caregivers. The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes and fingerplays (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary).

 

 

November 3: It's Sandwich Day! - It is an actual thing! Stories, songs, rhymes, and (always) stickers. 

November 10: Vanilla Cupcake Day Cupcake stories, songs, rhymes, & stickers!

November 17: Thanksgiving -   Stories, songs, and rhymes about Thanksgiving - because it is next week!

 

 

Wednesday Mornings at 10:30am (for kids ages 3-5)

 

November 1: Food, Eating, & Overeating -  Stories, music, movement, & a coloring page!

November 8: National STEAM/STEM Day -   We are going to talk about science & do experiements.  

November 15: "Stuff" about turkeys: fact & fiction -  Music, movement, & a coloring page! 

November 22: Thanksgiving Stories & Fun -   Art project is creating your Thanksgiving dinner!

November 29: Stories about being Thankful (just in general) - Music, movement & a coloring page.

 

Wednesday Afternoons at 3:30pm (for Kindergarten & older)

 

November 1: Preparing for Thanksgiving -   A story about food/eating & interesting food facts from around the world, followed by a memory game. 

November 8: National STEAM/STEM Day - Scientists & fun experiments!

November 15: Turkey Facts & FunA guessing game will follow turkey fun!

November 22: Thanksgiving Stories with a Guest Reader Sharing our plans &  traditions and playing some games you can play with family tomorrow.

November 29: Stories & Thoughts about being thankful - Then we will draw or write the things we are thankful for .  Calling all Artists, Writers, & Poets!

FAMILY EVENTS (ALL AGES)

 

Crochet Club: November 4th, 11th & 18th at 10:30am

All are welcome regardless of skill level.  Ages 10 & up. Bring a hook & yarn!

 

 

 

 

Teen Programs for middle & high schoolers (Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm)

***Bring a bag or can of vegetables to Ms. Marla, so we can make FRIENDSHIP SOUP!

 

November 2:  Duct Tape it Up -  What can you create with duct tape that is eye appealing and/or useful? 

November 9: Card Game Day -  How many card games do you know how to play?  We are going to find out! 

November 16:  Friendship Soup -   Ms. Marla will combine all ingredients donated by The Fellowship of the Teens members in her handy dandy crockpot, and at 4pm we will EAT!

November 30: Marble Run -  Using a variety of items, you will build your own marble run. 

 

Adult Programs

 

Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM

Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.  (NO BINGO ON THE 14TH)

 

Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, November 1st  from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room 

A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any vetran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms.  No appointment necessary.  First come, first serve basis.

 

Genealogy Club: November 4th at 10am

Should you ask Santa for Family Tree Maker?  Join Paula as she shares information on the Family Tree Maker Software.

 

Crafts!: Tuesday, November 21st at 2:30 PM (CANCELLED)

 

Page Turners Book Club: Thursday, November 16th at 11:30 AM

This month's selection is The Scent Keeper by Erica Bauermeister.  This novel is about families, childhoods, and the power of fragrance.

 

Tea Time:  November 18th  11:30 to 12:30
