We are now able to offer Wi-Fi hotspots! Users (ages 18 and older) with a Portland Public Library card that has been active for at least 30 days may borrow a FREE hotspot. The loan period for hotspots is 7 days, and if there is no wait list, they may be renewed for an additional 7-day period. Hotspot holds and check-outs are limited to one per household. For more information, come by the library or call us at 615-325-2279.

Family Events
March 11th: Movie Matinee – Join us for a showing of "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" from 10-12. A light snack & water will be served.
March 18th: St. Patrick's Day Family Fun Bash - Help us celebrate a belated St. Patrick's Day! We'll have face painting, crafts, snacks, a scavenger hunt, and more. Drop by between 9:30 to 12:30 to join in on the fun!
Children’s Programs
March 1st: Read with a Dog. Schedule an appointment (between 2:30 & 4:30). Call 615-325-2279 to schedule.
LAPSIT – FOR KIDS 2 & UNDER (Friday mornings at 10:30am)
This program is for infants and toddlers age 2 & under and their caregivers (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary). The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes, and fingerplays.
March 3rd – Wind & Kite Flying! Stories, music, rhymes, and more.
March 10th – It's a thunderstorm! Thunder, Lightning, Rain!
March 17th – St. Patrick's Day is all about leprechauns & the color green.
March 24th – Mittens & Gloves belong on hands! Stories, rhymes, songs & stickers.
March 31st- It's Crayon Day, so crayons & colors are our theme. Plus, songs & rhymes!
PRESCHOOL STORYTIME for 3 to 5 yr olds (Wednesday mornings at 10:30am)
March 1st – It's all about manatees (sometimes called sea cows).
March 8th – Anglerfish & other "glowing" sea creatures. Plus, make a glow in the dark project.
March 15th – Leprechaun stories in honor of St. Patrick's Day.
March 22nd – It's World Water Day, so books about water (or that have water in the title). We'll play around with objects that sink or float.
March 29th - Sea Horses (they aren't really horses) are our topic today! Facts & fiction, music, movement, and a craft.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM for Kindergarten & Older (Wednesday Afternoons at 3:30pm)
March 1st - STEAM Book Club - Chapters 1 & 2 of "The Wizard of Oz." We'll create a tornado in a bottle, & set up rust reaction jars to observe throughout the month.
March 8th - STEAM Book Club - chapters 3 & 4 of "The Wizard of Oz." We'll build bridges (engineering) and make a lion collage (art).
March 15th - Guest Reader - Mr. Chip Arnold reads a St. Patrick's Day story, followed by a game & take home craft kit.
March 22nd - STEAM Book Club - chapters 5 & 6 of "The Wizard of Oz." We'll draw optical illusions and learn about probability.
March 29th - STEAM Book Club - chapters 7 & 8 of "The Wizard of Oz." Make a golden cap (art/origami)and a spinning snake (science).
Fellowship of the Teens for Middle and High Schoolers (Thursdays 4:00-5:00 pm)
March 2nd - Book Games
We will meet in the community room for a fun time with books! Bring a book you would like to share with us.

Bingo
Every Tuesday @ 1:00 in the Community Room - Join in the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out “BINGO.” There will be candy and snack prizes for the winner. The last game of the day is the “Cover All” where the winner walks away with a gift card that can be used locally.
Genealogy Club
Saturday, March 4th @ 10:00am in the Community Room – Join Paula and the group to study Colonial Money with videos and handouts.
Veteran’s Representative
Wednesday March 1st 1:00 to 3:00pm in a Study Room
A rep from the Sumner County Veteran’s Service Office will be available to help any veteran or veteran’s spouse with questions or filling out of forms. No appointment necessary. First come, first serve basis.
