Children's Programs   

 

LAPSIT – FOR KIDS UNDER 3 (Friday mornings at 10:30)
These are programs for infants and toddlers under age 3 and their caregivers. The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes and fingerplays (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary). Our weekly program revolves loosely around a theme.

 

 

September 1: Jobs & Community Helpers:  Stories, songs, rhymes, and (always) stickers. 

September 8: Sunday is Grandparents Day, so we celebrate them:  Stories, songs, & rhymes. 

September 15: Tuesday is Talk like a Pirate Day:  Stories, songs, and rhymes about pirates. 

September 22: FALL: Stories, songs, & rhymes about Fall.  Plus, stickers at the end. 

September 29:  It's save a Koala Day:  Stories, songs, & rhymes about Koalas/Australia.

 

Wednesday Mornings at 10:30am (for kids ages 3-5)

 

September 6: What do you want to do when you grow up?  Different jobs in our community. Stories, music, movement & color a picture of your "job". 

September 13: Acting:  Hear about some famous actors - then experiment with acting things out. 

September 20: Inventors:  Music, movement, and use "stuff" to draw our invention. 

September 27: Chefs & Cooking:  Musical movements & a snack creation.  *Please note:  if your child has allergies, there will be food involved today. 

 

 

Wednesday Afternoons at 3:30pm (for Kindergarten & older)

 

September 6: Special Guest Today:  Labor Day was Monday, so our subject is jobs - specifically acting.  We will have a guest reader & spend time trying our hands at acting. 

*Starting September 13, 2023:  a 5-week STEAM Book Club - Around the World in 80 Days

September 13: Around the World week 1 - Chapters 1 & 2.  Projects:  Find your blind spot (science) & What are the chances? (math). 

September 20: Around the World week 2 - Chapters 3 & 4.  Projects:  Fingerprint Fun (science) & Staying on Track (engineering).  

September 27: Around the World week 3 - Chapters 5 & 6.  Projects:  Make a 4 Color Map (art) & Ocean in a Jar (science).

FAMILY EVENTS (ALL AGES)

 

Crochet Club: September 16th, 23rd, & 30th at 10:30am

All are welcome regardless of skill level.  Ages 10 & up. Bring a hook & yarn!

 

 

 

 

Teen Programs for middle & high schoolers (Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm)

 

September 7: POP IT!  Choose a balloon, POP IT, answer the "would ou rather question" inside.  Honesty is not required, but kind discussion is. 

September 14: The Tower of Cards!  In teams, or as an entire group, we are going to use playing cards to construct a tower.  Several tutorials can be viewed on YouTube. 

September 21: GAME DAY!  Here we go.!  The challenge is on!  It's finally Game Day @PPL for Middle/High Schoolers.  Come by, hang out, and enjoy some fun & laughs with friends!

September 28 Meet the Mayor!  Mayor Mike Callis will be at the library today to talk with the Fellowship of the Teens. 

 

 

Adult Programs

 

Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM

Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners. 

 

Genealogy Club: NO MEETING this month.  Library is closed for Labor Day. 

 

Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, August 2nd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room 

A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any vetran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms.  No appointment necessary.  First come, first serve basis.
 

Crafts with Payton: Tuesday, September 19th at 2:30 PM 

Sign-ups are required. Class limit: 15 people.

 

Page Turners Book Club: Thursday, September 21st at 11:30 AM

This month's selection, The Book of Charlie, is a true story by David Von Drehle.  When the journalist moved in next door to Charlie White, he developed a friendship and gained lots of wisdom.
