MP3 Raffle

Week 3 of the Website Scavenger Hunt: What is the name of the artist of the Quechee Library watercolor prints? Hint: The Friends sell prints so check out their page. For kids, what is the linked website found on the Kids' page for help if you have homework about the U.S. Government? Hint: it's named for the guy who used kites to learn about electricity. Remember: to get more raffle tickets for free, send the answers to the earlier weeks questions as well.
Week Two of the Raffle Ticket Games: Where or what to eat tonight? Explore Ready Reference and/or Local Links, Then send us the name of the website designed to help with that daily question. Kids can let us know what bird they'll meet at the Wilder Clubhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. Send the answers to quelibra@sover.net
Week one: Go to Best Choices page (click button on left), go to Agatha Awards and find the name of the Quebecois village known to Louise Penny's loyal fans.
On Dec. 22 the winning tickets will be drawn for two MP3 listening devices. Tickets can be purchased the old-fashioned way, right at the Quechee and Wilder Library circulation desks. Or they can be had for free. Just become a Facebook fan of the Quechee Library. Or check this page each Monday for a riddle. Find the answer and e-mail it to quelibra @sover.net. The hope is that the raffle will increase interest in the Green Mountain Listen Up!Vermont consortium (see the logo to click on to the left of this announcement). And the second hope is that this website becomes more familiar through the quest for riddle answers. Let the fun begin and we invite all to the raffle drawing at 4 o'clock on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Holiday cookies, too.

VINS Program & Pass

Your library card can now be used to obtain day passes for 4 at the Vermont Institute of Science (VINS). One patron at a time can use this great opportunity so it is limited to a 24 hours circulation, with a one day reserve possible.
Meanwhile, two VINS programs are scheduled at the libraries. On Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m., all kids are invited to meet a live turkey vulture at the Wilder Club and Library. Join Marieke for a craft to follow. Then, on the next school vacation, come to the Quechee Library on Monday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. for another VINS live program. Meet a snake, a wood turtle, and a salamander.

Once clicked, it becomes easy to navigate the web by links to sites that are excellent resources for a variety of information ranging from political to medical. An excellent resource is available in the Gale Databases/Vermont On Line Library. A perfect example is: uvfood.com to learn about local farms, restaurants and more.
