Library Cards are free to any resident of Shelby County. Applicants must present a photo ID and proof of address when applying for a card. Any child 14 years or younger must have a parent or guardian sign for responsibility of materials borrowed.

Nonresident borrowers may obtain a library card for the fee of $25.00. Reciprocal library cards are issued to residents of the following counties when a library card is presented from the hometown library of the patron: Anderson, Bullitt, Carroll, Franklin, Grayson, Hardin, Henry, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Oldham, Owen, Spencer, Trimble and Washington.

Only 2 items may be borrowed from the library when your library card is first activated. The maximum of 15 items may be borrowed on a library card after the first usage.

*Books are the only item that can be renewed for another 3-week loan period. Books will only be renewed for 1 additional loan period. No reserve books will be renewed.

Please note: Any patron having a fine of $5.00 or more will not be allowed to borrow library materials until the fine is reduced below $5.00. ALL paid fees are nonrefundable.
