can borrow library materials, use the internet in the library and use exclusive online library databases as well as renew and reserve from home.
All South Orange residents below 7th grade, all members of the South Orange/Maplewood school district below 7th grade.
A South Orange/Maplewood Student Card.
Any elementary or high school student who lives in Maplewood or South Orange can use a student card in both Maplewood and South Orange Public Libraries. Cards can be obtained in their home library.
A ReBL (reciprocal borrowing and lending) card.
can be used to borrow library materials owned by SOPL, use the internet in the library, and use exclusive online library databases as well as renew from home.
(Each town has its own ReBL regulations).

Anyone in Essex County (and some additional towns) who wants to borrow from area libraries should get a ReBL card.
A South Orange Public Library non-resident card.
gives the owner full library privileges
~ the only card with an application fee ($60; $30 for seniors)
Anyone who cannot apply for a resident or ReBL card can get a non-resident card.
A South Orange Public Library internet-only card.
can be used to access the internet in the library for a maximum of 2 hours per day.
Anyone who cannot get a resident or ReBL card, and who uses tthe internet in the library on a regular basis can get one.
A South Orange Public Library guest internet card.
can be used to access the internet in the library for a maximum of one hour per day. (A valid ID is required)
Anyone who uses the internet rarely or just one time should use a guest card.
