In 2006, the South Orange Public Library, in partnership with the Maplewood Memorial Library, was one of hundreds of individuals and organizations to collect donations for the rebuilding of the Jefferson Parish Public Libraries in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.

The money collected at our library has gone to the Wagner Library, which is set to re-open in late September or October of this year. The South Orange Public Library and the individuals and groups who donated through us will be posted in a list of donors at Wagner Library when is opens.
